Dishwasher won't fill, but will drain.

Hi. Have a WHIRLPOOL d/w, not sure the model... where would I find it? Lost manual.
D/W worked fine until our water was shut off in the middle of the wash cycle. The water that was in there drained out when our water was reconnected.
When I tried to start another wash cycle, it would not fill with water. So to test it, I poured a pitcher of water in the cycle- it just sat there until I pushed the CANCEL/CLEAR button. That water drained, also, but still nothing else.
I've check all hoses and switches, but nothing has worked.
THANX in advance for your help!!! Janet

AnswerHi Janet,
It could be a bad water valve. The only way to see is to see if the water valve has voltage when you try to start the washer. If it does have power replace the water valve. This is assuming there is water pressure coming to the valve.
The model number should be in the doorframe of the dishwasher, you should see a sticker with the model number and serial number.
There could also be an error code. On some models the dishwasher will flag an error code and if that happens it will shut off the dishwasher. Take the bottom panel off the dishwasher and look behind it and you should see a plastic bag with a service mini manual that will have info on error codes.
Thank you,
