GE Washer Lights Blink After Replacing The Control Board.

by Ryan
(TX)

I just replaced the control board on my washer now all that it will do is flash the lights on the control. Do you know what the problem may be?

The Model number is WBSE2090A0WW

Thank you,
Ryan

Answer

Hi Ryan,

On that control there is a plug that has only a jumper wire. This is the model select plug and if this plug is left off the control will be “confused” so to speak. See that plug “tells” the control what model it is on. In other words that control will work on other models just so long as the correct model select plug is in.

Look on you old control to see if you left the plug in the old control and if so take it and place it on your new control. This should correct the problem.

Shawn,

You hit that right on the head, that was the problem. I must have overlooked that plug because it didn?t connect to anything, put it on now the washer works find. This is a great website I will be telling my friends about it. Thank you so much!!

I had the exact same problem and solution! After replacing the control ASM on our GE washer, the lights on the front were just blinking. I had forgot to move the jumper from the old control ASM to the new one. After I moved it, the washer was working again.

Thanks!

GE, GTWN4250M0WS
by: Albert

I bought a sratch and repaired GE, GTWN4250M0WS. Is is missing the model select connector. Is there a way to know which pins to jumper instead of having to buy the connector? Thanks, Albert

The model select plug is just a jumper wire so theoretically you could just jump the wires however GE doesn’t give us information on which wires to jump. I guess they figure this is something we (repair techs) never need to know and this is right other than in a rare occasional such as this.

I, too, replaced the control panel, and when I hooked it up, all I got were flashing lights. I thought I had gotten a bad panel, but when I searched the problem, I came to this site and saw I had overlooked the jumper plug. Thank you for making my life much easier!

Continuous flashing red light
by: Dee

My ge washer will not agitate or spin. I took the front off and found the red flashing light. I found a list of error codes. 1-10. This red light flashes continuously with no pattern or pause. It just continuously flashes. Any ideas?

Nice work Shawn.I had the blinking lights after replacing the control board and was about to start testing the solenoid when I read your solution. I missed seeing the jumper on tha old board, transferred it to the new board and it worked perfectly.Have your site in my shortcuts for the next one. Thanks, Hal

It worked!

Thank you. I didn't realize I had to take the part off of the old board.

GE Washer not filling after replacing backsplash control board
by: Tim

I too had the problem of all the lights blinking so I removed the model identification chip from the old board to the new. Flashing lights problem solved, but my washer still won't fill. The fill light still blinks 20 times and beeps twice with no fill. Before replacing the board I diagnosed the problem by looking at the motor inverter light code. It was flashing 10 times suggesting a communication error. I saw a video online that said to reset the inverter light code by opening and closing the door so many times over 12 seconds and that might fix the problem. It did not. I have a new board installed with the same problem as before and now the inverter light just flashes continuously. Any suggestions. Hope this makes sense.

That error code can mean there is a loose connection. The last time I got this code a wire had come loose at the motor plug (the one to the far right). It could also be a bad plug at the control or the motor.

Worked. Thank Goodness I kept the old one. As soon as I looked at it .. I saw the white plug with a single wire looped.

After plugging it in the new board, plugged in the washer ... NO Blinking lights and worked like new.

Thanks A Million!
Rick

Great tip!

The tip about the jumper is awesome! I wonder how many people have run into this problem after replacing a control board, and did not know that they had to pull the jumper off of the old circuit board and put it on the new one. Many thanks for sharing this information.

Where do I get a replacement jumper plug?
by: Chuck Murray

Just ONE question is Not answered in this string - Where/how do I get the CORRECT replacement jumper plug if I wasn't lucky enough to have hung on to the fried cuircuit board I replaced ???

Jumper
by: Dean

Where is the jumper that has to be moved to the new board I don't see anything that is removable what does it look like

by: shawn

To Dean and Chuck

Some controls don’t have the jumper. If you don’t see a jumper you don’t have one. Chuck if you disposed of your control that had a jumper I would say call GE to see if they can help you.

Another Solution
by: Eric

I have a profile dryer same issue, the control board set on fire, replaced it, then was blinking. I found this page looked for a jumper, no jumper found.

On my model you program the model, there are both instructions and a model reference chart taped behind the front panel that should walk you through it.

In my case had to hit temp and level together until it showed --- then hit temp till I got to 1 (for my model), the chart showed three model settings just for reference.

I did call GE and they told me to go F myself and they would like to send someone to help for money.

After 7K dollars and 4 years every single GE profile appliance had at least one major issue. I will never again in my life buy even a GE toaster let alone an appliance.
